Starting a new business – whilst a hugely exciting challenge – can be a daunting task, which requires a remarkable amount of bravery and confidence. This is especially true when the venture takes you away from the comfort of familiar surroundings and a company that has been your home for many years. For Nicola Tomlin – a client at our Lancaster Court centre – starting a new business meant leaving the security of a large organisation.
Nicola made the decision to open a own wealth management company after 29 years with her previous firm – the well-known investment management firm, Charles Stanley. Alongside colleagues Liam Pryce-Jones and Robert Hale – also ex-Charles Stanley investment managers – Nicola founded the Solent branch of Raymond James in October 2016, with support from Laura Jackson (who also made the move from Charles Stanley to work with her former colleagues). The team have described the experience of successfully opening their own office as ‘liberating’ as it has afforded them the autonomy to choose their own direction for their business, but with the sound backing of their established parent company Raymond James.
The Solent branch of Raymond James aims to build strong, long-term client relationships and establish itself as a ‘local firm’ – an approach that the team feels is often missing amongst wealth management companies.
Raymond James supports 91 commercially independent wealth management practices across the UK with combined client assets of £6.71bn. There are 34 Raymond James-branded branches – including the new Solent branch opened by Nicola, Liam and Robert.
We are delighted that Nicola and the team have chosen to base their business at our Lancaster Court centre in Fareham. We look forward to seeing their continued success and supporting their business in our serviced office environment.
